Most
towns and cities in the North-west that do not have direct services
have a one stop interchange option with relatively high frequencies.
The rail service into Manchester runs up to 5 or 6 trains an hour
and also runs throughout the night connecting with other lines throughout
the region.
The main
alternative to rail is National Express coach. National Express run
economical services to most major towns and cities in North-west England.
However frequencies are much less than by rail and journey times are
invariably longer. Often there are higher frequencies from Manchester
City Centre coach station but interconnecting adds significantly to
total journey time.
In the Greater Manchester area there is a dense network of local buses.
Such buses from Manchester Airport only cover direct the City Centre
and southern suburb towns like Altrincham and Stockport. |
